Background & History
In 1994, Y-HEP began as a citywide pilot project to reduce the spread of HIV and STDs among adolescents and young adults in the Philadelphia area. Today Y-HEP is a vibrant, multi-faceted, community-based health and leadership development program for Philadelphia youth. Annually, Y-HEP serves over 3,000 high-risk, hard to reach teens and young adults through a range of activities.
Y-HEP would not be possible without funding from our generous sponsors. They are: The AIDS Activities Coordinating Office (AACO), Department of Behavioral Health, DHS, PA Department of Health, Foundational Support and the Family Planning Council.
Fiscal Sponsorship
Y-HEP is a program of Philadelphia FIGHT, a comprehensive AIDS service organization, providing primary care, consumer education, advocacy and research on potential treatments and vaccines. FIGHT was formed as a partnership of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and clinicians, who joined together to improve the lives of people living with the disease.
